What to Bring?

I usually make a list otherwise I will always forget something. If you do forget something it isn’t a big deal there is a Walmart down the road. Some things to put on your list:

  • Umbrella
  • Clay for your project
  • Tools
  • Work mat
  • Your favorite pillow. The pillows are small.
  • Wrapped snacks for the snack table.
  • Sweater (Mornings can be chilly and sometimes the room gets cold.)
  • Small tile for baking your project.
  • Utensils (spoon, fork and knife. They provide plastic utensils)
  • mask
  • gloves
I will bring this k-cup coffee maker. It uses both grounds and k-cups. I will bring a can of coffee. You can bring your favorite k-cup coffee or tea pods for the coffee maker. The guild will have purified water for sale, 50 cents a bottle.
I will also bring my little coffee pot. It makes 5 cups.

The coffee machine in Raintree have been turned off. The coffee stations in the recreation room were still in use the last time I was there in October. They will also have coffee available in the dining room. So there will be plenty of options for coffee.

Specific Projects

Brenda’s Demo

Wooden Pepper Mill

A blank pepper mill costs 10 dollars and you would need to contact Brenda. For this project you need ecru clay, molds, burnt umber, brush and sponge. You can also bring an item you would like to cover. This is a gourd birdhouse.

Scarabs:

Black clay (though you can use anything you want) and pearl-ex powders or paint.  A thinnish knitting needle or a pin tool with a nice long pin part. Texture tools, though I’ll have some to share since you are all as honest as the day is long.

Circles Playing Well Together:

Black clay, three nesting circle cutters, three colors of paint that go together and have contrast. Stencils if you have favorites, though I’ll have some punchinella to share. You could use three colors of clay and one color of paint if you’d prefer, I suspect.

We will have a demo board to add demos as requested. I will be working on my polymer clay tree if anyone is interested. These are projects I am working on at home.

Mask Policy from CDC Guidelines

After you receive the vaccine:

You’re considered fully protected against the virus that causes COVID-19:

  • Two weeks after the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
  • Two weeks after the second dose of the Moderna vaccine.
  • Two weeks after the single dose of Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.

Don’t forget to let your provider know you’ve received your vaccine! This information will be added to your health record.

After you’re fully vaccinated:

The CDC has issued new information about the kinds of activities you can do after you are fully vaccinated.

  • You can gather indoors with fully vaccinated people without wearing a mask, even if they are from another household
  • You can gather indoors with other unvaccinated people from one other household without masks, as long as they are not at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
  • If you’ve been exposed to someone with COVID-19, you do not need to stay away from others or get tested unless you have symptoms.

As more people get the vaccine, we will be able to visit more friends and family safely and return to normal. The new CDC guidelines provide additional information about what you can do safely when you are fully vaccinated.

    1. Yes, there will be more demos but I don’t have specific lists for every demo. If you bring the basic tools, some cutters, molds and texture sheets that should cover it but if you don’t have something, we are a very friendly group so we share supplies. We will be providing goody bags that will have an assortment of clay. You can bring the basic clay colors white, black, translucent clay and liquid clay. If you are new to polymer clay, you don’t need to run out and buy everything. I have some spare supplies I can bring for you, just let me know.
